Day 21 of 100. I have always been fascinated with the smoke tree/shrub (Cotinus obovutus Raf.). To me it is a challenge to capture the panicles that develop long, red or purple hairlike petioles that in these crowded flower clusters create an appearance of smoke at a distance. The foliage of the ones I have seen in NC are a dark burgandy color but can change colors with the seasons. Image taken with iPhone XR. App: PSE 15 - post processing. There are 3 images. Upper Right: The original, one that I adjusted the shadow. Upper Left increased contrast and the sharpness to make more abstract. Lower right final image that I used purple hue with pink and black accents to make more like a painting.
